Milltown High School's first graduating class appears to have been in 1917 (according to the Alumni Section in the older yearbooks).  The 1939 yearbook states in the introduction that there was a lapse of eight years of publishing before this issue.  This was probably due to the depression era.  The school continued to operate as Milltown High School until 1957.  At this time the towns of Milltown, Centuria, Balsam Lake, (and all the rural schools) consolidated, and a new High School was built in a central location.  This became Unity High School.  The grade schools continued at the three town for several years until a new grade school  was added at the Unity High School location.

 

The Yearbook was called : MIHIPOCOWI, which is short for Milltown High School Polk County Wisconsin.  The sports teams were the Wildcats

 

When I found the collection of old yearbooks at a garage sale, I was at first interested because most of my sisters and brother (and myself) attended this school.  It was interesting to find the graduation pictures of many friends and neighbors!  However, there were quite a few years missing, so I set out to try to find them.  I discovered that the older yearbooks were very difficult to locate.  Even the local libraries or local museum did not have copies.  The Unity High School had only a few issues.   I decided that I would try to find all the old issues and scan them into an electronic format.  Then I could give the libraries and museum copies of the CDs.  The idea was to preserve them, at least in electronic format, before they were impossible to find.

 

I have scanned all the yearbooks that I had and also some that I have borrowed.  Some of the yearbooks had damage (defaced pictures).  I have found some of the missing yearbooks, and now am only missing the year 1921.  I have been able to replace most of the damaged pages also.  The Milltown Museum (established in 2012) has quite a few donated yearbooks that I have been able to scan.  I scanned each yearbook cover to cover and compiled several CDs.  I have added the Unity High School Senior Class photos from 1958 to 1963.  This covers most of the students who went to Milltown before it was consolidated.

 

I have published only the Milltown Senior Class photos from 1939 to 1957 (and the Unity Senior Class photos from 1958 to 1963) on this website.  The entire yearbooks are on the CDs.
